This year over 90,000 homeless dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens will die in New Mexico shelters. We are working to change that, but we can't do it without your help. We are a private, non-profit, tax-deductible charity and rely on the generosity of friends like you to help us continue our work. Only 6% of our annual budget comes from city or county sources. Commemorate a Special Occasion
For the pet lovers on your list, how about a gift to the shelter in their name? It’s a great way to mark birthdays, holidays, anniversaries . . .
any special occasion. Just send a check and include a note with the name of the person or pet you would like to honor. (If you’d prefer, call us at
505-753-8662 and use your credit card.) We will mail them a beautiful, custom-printed card, letting them know of your gift. We will send you a
receipt for tax purposes. And we will acknowledge your gift in our newsletter.
Make a Memorial Donation
A donation to the EVHS is a thoughtful way to express your sympathy. When you make a donation in memory of a person or pet, we will send a
custom-printed card to the family, letting them know that you have made a memorial gift. We will also acknowledge your memorial gift in our
newsletter. Simply send a check and include a note with the name of the person or pet in whose memory you are making the gift. Also include
the name and address of the family you would like us to notify. Or, if you prefer to arrange your gift by phone, call us at 505-753-8662.
Bid for the Animals
You can help by taking part in our annual auction. There are many ways to participate, from purchasing a ticket, to taking out an ad in the program,
to donating items and prizes, to underwriting a portion of the evening’s events. It’s always a sell-out, and it’s a guaranteed good time. All

de Paws. You’ll find treasures and bargains galore, and all proceeds go to help the animals!
Bequests and Estate Gifts
A bequest in your will or living trust is a way to create a legacy that will help homeless and unwanted animals into the future. A bequest,
naming the Española Valley Humane Society as a direct beneficiary, may take several forms. It can be a specific amount, a percentage of your
estate, or the remainder of your estate after expenses and gifts to loved ones. Bequests can include cash, securities, real estate, and personal
property, such as valuable collections, art, or jewelry.
"Walk of Love and Hope"
The walkway to the shelter is created from bricks that memorialize or commemorate people and their pets. When you purchase a brick for the
walkway, you can choose a special message or name that will be engraved on the brick. Each brick can have two lines of thirteen characters
(letters and spaces) each. The cost is $50. It’s a lasting way to remember a loved one or a cherished pet. Just send a check and include your

Clean Out Your Closets
Here’s a way to clean out your closets, get a tax-deductible donation, and help homeless animals. Donate your used clothing and household
items, in very good condition, to our resale stores. You can drop off items at either store: the Barkin’ Boutique,
in Santa Fe or St. Francis de Paws, in Española. Every dollar of merchandise we sell at the stores directly benefits the animals.
Donate Your Air Miles
Have you accumulated air miles that you are not able to use? How about donating some of your miles to help the animals? Each year we send members
of our management and staff to conferences to learn the latest information on sheltering or to keep up with licensing requirements. Your donation
of air miles would be a big help in defraying the expenses of these trips.
Other Planned Gifts
You can design a gift that helps homeless cats and dogs and that also helps to meet your financial and tax planning goals. You can name the
Española Valley Humane Society as the beneficiary of your pension, IRA, 401(k), or other retirement plan. By doing so, you could avoid the
possible double taxation on retirement plan assets left to your heirs. You might consider naming the EVHS as owner and beneficiary (or co-beneficiary)
of a life insurance policy. Gifts of stock, other securities, or real estate can also be tax-advantaged ways to help homeless animals.
