The Española Valley Humane Society is a nonprofit organization that relies on private donations and its own fundraising abilities to operate. The adoption fees help to offset some of the costs of providing care for the animals and preparing them for placement into new homes. Adoption fees are on a sliding scale from $25 to $150, depending on how long an animal has been in the shelter’s care. Average adoption fees for an adult cat or dog are $45, and for a small breed dog, puppy or kitten, $85.
All adoption fees include the spay or neuter surgery, a microchip with lifetime registration in a national database, initial vaccinations, and 30 days of pet health insurance.
